What is the Cable Kickbacks?

The cable kickbacks are a fantastic isolation exercise that primarily targets the glutes and hamstrings. Suitable for athletes of all levels, this exercise helps in building strength and definition in the lower body while enhancing stability and balance.

How to properly perform the Cable Kickbacks

  1. Attach an ankle cuff to a low cable pulley.
  2. Stand facing away from the cable machine and place your foot into the cuff, securing it around your ankle.
  3. Keep a slight bend in your knee and hinge forward at the hips, maintaining a neutral spine.
  4. Engage your glutes and hamstrings to kick your leg straight back, extending your hip.
  5. Pause briefly at the top of the movement, then slowly lower your leg back to the starting position.
  6. Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions, then switch legs and repeat.
