What is the Banded Straight Arm Pulldowns?

The banded straight arm pulldowns are an effective isolation exercise that target the back muscles, particularly the lats. Beginner-friendly with light resistance, it is also highly valued by advanced athletes at the end of a workout to achieve maximum muscle pump. This exercise also engages secondary muscles such as the shoulders and triceps.

How to properly perform the Banded Straight Arm Pulldowns

  1. Attach a resistance band to an anchor point overhead.
  2. Stand facing the anchor point and grab the band with both hands, palms facing down.
  3. Extend your arms straight out in front of you at shoulder height.
  4. Keeping your arms straight, pull the band down towards your sides, engaging your lats and upper back muscles.
  5. Pause briefly at the bottom, then return to the starting position with control.
