What is the Barbell Overhead squats?

The overhead barbell squats are an advanced multi-joint exercise that improves overall stability and strength. This exercise primarily targets the quadriceps, hamstrings, and shoulders, while also engaging the core and glutes.

How to properly perform the Barbell Overhead squats

  1. Place a loaded barbell on top of your shoulders, hands in a wide grip, and arms extended overhead.
  2. Spread your feet shoulder-width apart and keep your toes slightly turned out.
  3. Descend into a squat position, keeping your back straight and knees aligned with your toes.
  4. Return to the standing position by pushing through your heels and contracting the muscles of your legs and glutes.
  5. Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions.
