What is the Snatch-Grip Deadlift?

The snatch-grip deadlift is a compound exercise that primarily targets the hamstring muscles. This exercise is excellent for improving your overall strength and power. Besides working the hamstrings, it also engages the glutes and back muscles.

How to properly perform the Snatch-Grip Deadlift

  1. Stand with your feet hip-width apart and a barbell on the floor in front of you.
  2. Bend at the hips and knees to grip the barbell with a wide overhand grip.
  3. Keep your back straight, chest up, and shoulders back.
  4. Drive through your heels, straighten your legs, and lift the barbell up to a standing position.
  5. Lower the barbell back down to the floor by bending at the hips and knees.
  6. Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions.
