What is the Barbell Good Morning?

The barbell good morning is a strength training exercise focused on the posterior chain muscles, primarily the hamstrings, glutes, and erector spinae. Integrating this exercise into your routine enhances not only the strength but also the flexibility of your hips and hamstrings.

How to properly perform the Barbell Good Morning

  1. Place a barbell across your upper back, resting it on your trapezius muscles.
  2. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and your knees slightly bent.
  3. Keeping your back straight and your core engaged, hinge at the hips and lower your torso forward.
  4. Lower your torso until you feel a stretch in your hamstrings, but avoid rounding your back.
  5. Pause briefly, then raise your torso back up to the starting position by extending your hips.
  6. Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions.
