What is the Cable Cross-over Lateral Pulldown?

The cable cross-over lateral pulldown is a strength training exercise that targets the back and shoulder muscles, particularly effective for developing back width. This exercise engages the trapezius, latissimus dorsi, and rhomboid muscles, providing constant tension through the cable machine, which is ideal for hypertrophy.

How to properly perform the Cable Cross-over Lateral Pulldown

  1. Attach the cable handles to the high pulleys of a cable machine.
  2. Stand in the center of the machine, grasping the handles with your palms facing down.
  3. Pull the handles down and out to the sides, keeping your elbows slightly bent.
  4. Focus on squeezing your shoulder blades together as you pull.
  5. Return to the starting position in a controlled manner.
  6. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
