What is the Cable Upright Rows?

Cable upright rows are an excellent strength training exercise to effectively target the shoulder muscles and trapezius muscles. This exercise can be adapted for beginners with moderate weights and is equally effective for advanced practitioners aiming to enhance upper body muscle definition.

How to properly perform the Cable Upright Rows

  1. Stand facing a cable machine with your feet shoulder-width apart.
  2. Grasp the cable handle or attachment with an overhand grip, hands slightly closer than shoulder-width apart.
  3. Keep your back straight and core engaged as you lift the cable towards your chin, leading with your elbows.
  4. Pause briefly at the top of the movement, then slowly lower the cable back to the starting position.
  5. Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions.
