What is the Dumbbell Bent Over Rows?
The dumbbell bent over rows are a resistance exercise that primarily targets the back muscles, including the latissimus dorsi and trapezius. This exercise is excellent for improving upper body strength and muscular balance, as it allows you to work each side of the body independently, thereby reducing muscle imbalances.
How to properly perform the Dumbbell Bent Over Rows
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding a dumbbell in one hand.
- Bend forward at the hips, keeping your back straight and your core engaged.
- Allow the dumbbell to hang at arm's length towards the floor.
- Keeping your elbow close to your side, pull the dumbbell towards your torso by squeezing your shoulder blades together.
- Pause for a moment at the top of the movement, then slowly lower the dumbbell back to the starting position.
- Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions, then switch sides.
