What is the Kettlebell Suitcase Deadlift?
The kettlebell suitcase deadlift is a functional exercise that primarily targets the posterior chain muscles and the core. It mimics the movement of lifting a heavy suitcase on one side, thereby enhancing unilateral strength and balance. Ideal for overall strength development and injury prevention, this exercise also engages the stabilizer muscles.
How to properly perform the Kettlebell Suitcase Deadlift
- Place a kettlebell on the ground beside your feet.
- Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, toes pointed forward.
- Slightly bend your knees and hinge forward at the hips, maintaining a neutral spine.
- Reach down and grip the kettlebell handle with one hand, palm facing your body.
- Engage your core and drive through your heels to lift the kettlebell, standing up tall.
- Keep your back straight and avoid twisting or leaning to the side.
- Lower the kettlebell back down to the ground in a controlled manner.
- Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, then switch to the other hand.
