What is the Overhead Slam?

The Overhead Slam is a full-body power exercise using a medicine ball or slam ball. Ideal for building explosive strength and improving coordination, it's suitable for both beginners and advanced athletes. It primarily engages the core, shoulders, and leg muscles.

How to properly perform the Overhead Slam

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding a medicine ball or slam ball with both hands.
  2. Hold the ball overhead, fully extending your arms.
  3. Engage your core and maintain a slight bend in your knees.
  4. Forcefully slam the ball down to the ground in front of you, using your entire body and generating power from your hips.
  5. As you slam the ball, squat down and absorb the impact by bending your knees.
  6. Retrieve the ball and repeat for the recommended number of repetitions.
