What is the Lateral Band Walk?

The lateral band walk is an isolation exercise that primarily targets the hip abductors and strengthens the leg stabilizer muscles. Ideal for both beginners and advanced practitioners, it enhances stability and can easily be incorporated into a warm-up or workout circuit.

How to properly perform the Lateral Band Walk

  1. Start by placing a resistance band around your legs, just above your knees.
  2. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and slightly bend your knees.
  3. Engage your core and maintain a straight back.
  4. Step to the side with your right foot, followed by your left foot, keeping tension in the band.
  5. Continue stepping side to side for the desired number of repetitions.
