What is the Push Up to Side Plank?
The Push Up to Side Plank combines two classic movements, push-ups and side planks, for a comprehensive exercise that targets the chest muscles, shoulders, arms, and abs. This exercise is perfect for enhancing core strength and stability.
How to properly perform the Push Up to Side Plank
- Start in a push-up position with your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart.
- Lower your chest towards the ground by bending your elbows, keeping your body in a straight line.
- Push through your hands to extend your arms and return to the starting position.
- Shift your weight onto one hand and rotate your body sideways, lifting your other hand towards the ceiling to come into a side plank position.
- Hold the side plank for a few seconds, engaging your core and stabilizing your body.
- Return to the starting position and repeat the push-up, this time rotating to the opposite side for the side plank.
- Continue alternating between push-ups and side planks for the recommended number of repetitions.
