What is the Side Jackknife?

The side jackknife, also known as oblique crunches, is an isolation exercise that specifically targets the oblique muscles in the abdominal area. Perfect for sculpting the lateral muscles and enhancing core stability, this exercise is beneficial for both beginners and advanced athletes.

How to properly perform the Side Jackknife

  1. Lie on your side with your legs extended and stacked on top of each other.
  2. Place your bottom arm straight out in front of you for support.
  3. Engage your core muscles and lift your top leg and upper body off the ground, bringing them towards each other.
  4. Pause briefly at the top, then lower back down to the starting position.
  5. Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions, then switch sides.
