What is the Sumo Deadlifts with Chains?

The sumo deadlifts with chains are a complex exercise primarily targeting the leg muscles, glutes, and lower back. This exercise is ideal for increasing overall strength and enhancing stability. It is particularly effective for more advanced athletes due to the progressively increasing resistance provided by the chains.

How to properly perform the Sumo Deadlifts with Chains

  1. Set up a barbell with chains at each end, ensuring that the chains are hanging on the ground.
  2. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, toes under the bar.
  3. Engage your core, keep your back straight, and grip the bar with a pronated grip.
  4. Take a deep breath, brace your abs, and lift the bar from the ground.
  5. As you lift, the chains will start to come off the ground, increasing resistance at the top of the movement.
  6. Lower the bar back to the starting position, keeping your back straight and engaging your glutes and hamstrings.
  7. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
