What is the Barbell Drag Curl?

The Barbell Drag Curl is a unique isolation exercise that effectively targets the biceps, emphasizing the upper part of the muscle. This movement is particularly useful for those looking to improve muscle definition and density. Although often underutilized, it is highly beneficial when properly integrated into a training regimen.

How to properly perform the Barbell Drag Curl

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, holding a barbell with an underhand grip, palms facing your body.
  2. Keep your back straight and engage your core.
  3. Initiate the curl by dragging the barbell up along your body, keeping it close and in contact with your torso.
  4. Continue to curl the barbell up towards your shoulders, squeezing your biceps at the top of the movement.
  5. Lower the barbell back down in a controlled manner, maintaining the drag against your body.
  6. Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions.
