What is the Barbell Preacher Curl?

The barbell preacher curl is an isolation exercise that intensely targets the biceps. It especially promotes the development of the lower part of the biceps by minimizing momentum and maximizing muscle tension throughout the movement.

How to properly perform the Barbell Preacher Curl

  1. Set up a preacher curl bench with the appropriate weight.
  2. Position yourself on the bench with your upper arms resting on the pad and your chest against it.
  3. Grasp the barbell with an underhand grip, hands shoulder-width apart.
  4. With your arms fully extended and your elbows positioned on the pad, curl the barbell up towards your shoulders.
  5. Squeeze your biceps at the top of the movement, then lower the barbell back down to the starting position in a controlled manner.
  6. Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions.
