What is the Reverse Barbell Lunges?

The reverse barbell lunges are a compound exercise that primarily targets the leg and glute muscles. Effective for enhancing strength and balance, they also significantly engage the core to maintain bar stability.

How to properly perform the Reverse Barbell Lunges

  1. Stand with your feet hip-width apart and hold a barbell in front of your shoulders with an overhand grip.
  2. Take a step backward with one foot, landing on the ball of your foot.
  3. Lower your body by bending both knees until your back knee is just above the ground and your front thigh is parallel to the ground.
  4. Push through your front heel and step your back foot forward to return to the starting position.
  5. Alternate legs and repeat the lunge on the other side.
  6. Continue alternating legs for the desired number of repetitions.
