What is the Cable Seated Horizontal Shrug (male)?

The cable seated horizontal shrug is an excellent isolation exercise to target the traps and upper back. It's ideal for strengthening the shoulders and improving posture. Often used to add variety and intensity to shoulder training routines.

How to properly perform the Cable Seated Horizontal Shrug (male)

  1. Adjust the cable pulley to the lowest setting and attach a straight bar or rope handle.
  2. Sit on a bench facing the cable machine, feet flat on the ground.
  3. Grab the bar or handle with both hands, arms extended in front of you.
  4. Keep your back straight and pull your shoulders back.
  5. Lift your shoulders towards your ears, squeezing your traps at the top of the movement.
  6. Lower your shoulders back down in a controlled manner.
  7. Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions.
