What is the Belt Squats?

The Belt Squats are an excellent strength training exercise that primarily targets the quadriceps, while also engaging the hamstrings and glutes. This exercise minimizes spinal load, making it a safe and effective alternative to traditional squats for all levels of athletes.

How to properly perform the Belt Squats

  1. Attach a belt or harness around your waist, with the weight attached in front or behind.
  2. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and toes pointed forward.
  3. Keep your torso upright and your core engaged.
  4. Lower your body by bending at the knees and hips, as if sitting back into a chair.
  5. Lower until your thighs are parallel to the floor, or as far as comfortable.
  6. Push through your heels to return to the starting position.
  7. Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions.
