What is the Cable Chest Press?

The cable chest press is a strength training exercise that primarily targets the pectoral muscles while also engaging the triceps and shoulders. This exercise is perfect for those looking to build chest strength while maintaining constant tension on the muscles through the use of cables.

How to properly perform the Cable Chest Press

  1. Attach handles to the pulleys of a cable machine at chest height.
  2. Stand between the pulleys and grab the handles with a palms-down grip.
  3. Step forward with one foot, positioning yourself in a staggered stance.
  4. Keep your chest up, core engaged, and shoulders back and down.
  5. Extend your arms straight in front of you, pushing the handles away from your body.
  6. Pause briefly at the end of the movement, then slowly return to the starting position.
  7. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions, maintaining proper form and control.
