What is the Power Snatch?

The power snatch is an advanced Olympic lift that works the entire body, particularly the legs, shoulders, and core. It enhances coordination, explosiveness, and strength. Ideal for improving athletic performance, this exercise requires precise technique and proper warm-up.

How to properly perform the Power Snatch

  1. Start with the barbell on the floor in front of you.
  2. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, toes pointing slightly outward, and grip the barbell with a wide overhand grip.
  3. Bend at your knees and hips, keeping your back straight, chest lifted, and shoulders over the bar.
  4. Drive through your legs and hips to extend your body explosively, pulling the barbell up and keeping it close to your body.
  5. As the barbell reaches hip level, quickly drop into a partial squat and rotate your elbows under the bar, catching it in an overhead position with your arms extended.
  6. Stand up fully, keeping the barbell overhead, and then lower it back down to the starting position.
  7. Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions.
