What is the Cable Incline Pushdown?

The cable incline pushdown is an exercise aimed at primarily working the triceps. Using a pulley machine and an incline bench, this exercise provides enhanced isolation of the triceps, promoting better muscle pump and optimal development of this area. It is suitable for both beginners and advanced practitioners looking to diversify their triceps exercises.

How to properly perform the Cable Incline Pushdown

  1. Set up a cable machine with a straight bar attachment at a high position.
  2. Adjust the incline bench to a comfortable angle.
  3. Stand facing the cable machine and grab the bar with an overhand grip, hands shoulder-width apart.
  4. Lean forward against the incline bench, keeping your back straight and core engaged.
  5. Extend your arms downward, pushing the bar towards your thighs while keeping your elbows close to your sides.
  6. Pause at the bottom of the movement, then slowly release the bar back up to the starting position.
  7. Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions.
