What is the Seated Single Arm Dumbbell Overhead Tricep Extensions?
The seated single arm dumbbell overhead tricep extensions specifically target the tricep muscles, especially the long head of the triceps. This exercise is excellent for developing strength and muscle mass in the triceps, and it's ideal to include it in the middle or at the end of a workout to maximize muscle pump. Using a dumbbell allows you to work each arm in isolation.
How to properly perform the Seated Single Arm Dumbbell Overhead Tricep Extensions
- Sit on a bench with your back straight and hold a dumbbell in one hand.
- Extend your arm straight up overhead, keeping your elbow close to your ear.
- Bend your elbow and lower the dumbbell behind your head, keeping your upper arm stationary.
- Pause briefly at the bottom of the movement, then straighten your arm to return to the starting position.
- Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions, then switch arms.
