What is the Band Assisted Chin Ups?

The Band Assisted Chin Ups are an excellent way for beginners to build strength required for unassisted chin-ups. This exercise primarily targets the biceps and the latissimus dorsi, while also engaging the scapular muscles. Perfect for those looking to improve strength progressively and in a controlled manner.

How to properly perform the Band Assisted Chin Ups

  1. Attach a resistance band to a pull-up bar or secure it around the bar.
  2. Place one knee or foot into the loop of the resistance band, creating assistance.
  3. Grab the pull-up bar with an underhand grip, hands shoulder-width apart.
  4. Hang from the bar with your arms fully extended and your core engaged.
  5. Initiate the chin-up movement by pulling your chest towards the bar, bending your elbows and squeezing your shoulder blades together.
  6. Continue pulling until your chin is above the bar.
  7. Lower yourself back down with control, fully extending your arms.
  8. Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions.
