What is the Kettlebell Pistol Squat?
The kettlebell pistol squat is a demanding strength and stability exercise, specifically targeting the leg muscles and heavily engaging coordination. Ideal for advanced practitioners, it helps develop both muscle power and balance. The added weight of the kettlebell enhances the intensity and benefits of this movement.
How to properly perform the Kettlebell Pistol Squat
- Stand with your feet hip-width apart, holding a kettlebell with both hands at your chest.
- Lift one foot off the ground and extend it forward.
- Keep your core engaged and slowly lower your body into a squat position on one leg, while keeping the kettlebell close to your chest.
- Lower until your thigh is parallel to the ground or as low as you can comfortably go.
- Push through your standing foot and return to the starting position.
- Repeat on the other leg, alternating legs for the recommended number of repetitions.
