What is the Plyo Side Lunge Stretch?
The plyo side lunge stretch combines both stretching and explosiveness, making it an excellent exercise for strengthening the legs and improving agility. This exercise primarily targets the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes, while also engaging the stabilizer muscles to maintain balance and coordination.
How to properly perform the Plyo Side Lunge Stretch
- Start by standing with your feet together and your arms relaxed at your sides.
- Take a large step to the side with your right foot, keeping your toes pointing forward.
- Bend your right knee and lower your body into a side lunge position, making sure to keep your left leg straight.
- As you lower into the lunge, reach your right hand towards the ground on the inside of your right foot.
- Push off with your right foot and jump explosively into the air, switching sides mid-air.
- Land softly with your left foot stepping out to the side and your right foot coming back to center.
- Repeat the movement for the recommended number of repetitions, alternating sides with each jump.
