What is the Side-Lying Quad Stretch?

The side-lying quad stretch is an excellent flexibility exercise designed to effectively stretch the quadriceps muscles. It is perfect for improving leg mobility and aiding recovery after intense workouts involving the lower body.

How to properly perform the Side-Lying Quad Stretch

  1. Lie on your side on a comfortable surface, with your bottom leg bent for support.
  2. Reach back and grab your top ankle or foot with your hand on the same side.
  3. Gently pull your ankle towards your glutes, feeling a stretch in the front of your thigh (quadriceps).
  4. Keep your upper body relaxed and your hips stable throughout the stretch.
  5. Hold the stretch for 20 to 30 seconds, breathing deeply and maintaining a steady stretch.
  6. Release the stretch and repeat on the other side.
