What is the Single-Leg Lying Hamstring Curl?

The single-leg lying hamstring curl is an excellent isolation exercise for effectively targeting the hamstring muscles. Suitable for all levels, it helps enhance leg strength and balance muscular strength between both legs.

How to properly perform the Single-Leg Lying Hamstring Curl

  1. Lie face down on a leg curl machine with one leg extended and the other leg bent at the knee.
  2. Secure your upper body by holding onto the handles of the machine.
  3. Contract your hamstring muscles and curl your lower leg up towards your buttocks, keeping your hips pressed into the bench.
  4. Pause briefly at the top of the movement, then slowly lower your leg back down to the starting position.
  5. Complete the recommended number of repetitions, then switch to the other leg.
