What is the Scapular Pull Ups?

Scapular pull-ups are an excellent exercise to strengthen the shoulder's stabilizing muscles and enhance the overall shoulder health. This exercise is ideal for those aiming to improve their pull-up technique or add a new dimension to their strength training routine.

How to properly perform the Scapular Pull Ups

  1. Hang from a pull-up bar with your arms fully extended and palms facing away from you.
  2. Start by retracting your scapulae (shoulder blades) by pulling them down and back.
  3. Hold this position for a few seconds, focusing on engaging the muscles between your shoulder blades.
  4. Slowly release the scapular retraction and allow your arms to return to the fully extended position.
  5. Repeat the scapular pull and release for the recommended number of repetitions.
