What is the Cuban Press?

The Cuban Press is a compound exercise that combines an upright row with a press to effectively target the shoulders, particularly the rear deltoids, along with the stabilizer muscles. It's an excellent exercise for enhancing shoulder coordination and strength.

How to properly perform the Cuban Press

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and hold a barbell with an overhand grip, palms facing down.
  2. Start by performing an upright row, pulling the barbell up towards your chin, keeping your elbows higher than your forearms.
  3. Once the barbell reaches chin level, rotate your wrists and press the barbell overhead, extending your arms fully.
  4. Reverse the motion by bringing the barbell back down to chin level and rotating your wrists back to the starting position.
  5. Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions.
