What is the Dumbbell Sumo Squats?
The dumbbell sumo squats are a compound exercise that primarily targets the thigh and glute muscles. While suitable for beginners, it remains highly effective for advanced practitioners aiming to maximize muscle development and lower body strength. This exercise also engages stabilizer muscles due to the wide foot stance.
How to properly perform the Dumbbell Sumo Squats
- Stand with your feet wider than shoulder-width apart and your toes pointed slightly outward.
- Hold a dumbbell in each hand, with your arms straight down and your palms facing inwards.
- Lower your body by bending at the knees and hips, keeping your back straight and chest lifted.
- Go as low as your flexibility allows, ideally until your thighs are parallel to the ground.
- Push through your heels to return to the starting position and repeat for the recommended number of repetitions.
