What is the Lying Leg Lift?

The lying leg lifts are a fundamental exercise to build the abdominals and lower body strength. Easy to execute with no equipment, this exercise is ideal for both beginners and advanced practitioners. Besides targeting the core muscles, it also engages the leg muscles.

How to properly perform the Lying Leg Lift

  1. Lie down on your back with your legs straight and arms by your sides.
  2. Engage your abdominal muscles to maintain the lower back pressed against the floor.
  3. Slowly lift your legs, keeping your knees extended, until they are vertical or as close as possible.
  4. Pause at the top of the contraction, then lower your legs back down slowly and in a controlled manner to the starting position.
  5. Repeat the movement for the recommended number of repetitions.
