The single arm standing dumbbell shoulder press is a compound exercise that primarily engages the shoulder muscles as well as the stabilizer muscles. Suitable for all fitness levels, this exercise helps improve balance and coordination while increasing unilateral muscular strength. It is particularly useful for correcting muscular imbalances between the two sides of the body.
How to properly perform the Single Arm Standing Dumbbell Shoulder Press
- Hold a dumbbell in one hand, with your arm bent and the dumbbell at shoulder height.
- Place your feet shoulder-width apart and keep your knees slightly bent.
- Push the dumbbell upwards using the strength of your shoulder and arm.
- Continue to push the dumbbell until your arm is fully extended.
- Slowly return to the starting position by lowering the dumbbell in a controlled manner.
- Repeat the movement for the recommended number of repetitions, then switch to the other arm.
