What is the Cable Deadlifts?

The cable deadlifts are a hybrid exercise that combines the benefits of traditional deadlifts with the stability offered by the cable machine. This exercise is excellent for strengthening the lower back and glute muscles, minimizing the risk of improper form due to the guided resistance. It is particularly beneficial for those looking to improve their deadlift technique without using free weights.

How to properly perform the Cable Deadlifts

  1. Attach a cable handle to the lowest position on a cable machine.
  2. Stand facing the machine with your feet hip-width apart.
  3. Keep your back straight, chest up, and engage your core.
  4. Grab the cable handle with an overhand grip, hands shoulder-width apart.
  5. Start with your arms extended and the cable taut.
  6. Bend at the hips and knees, lowering your body into a squat position while keeping your back straight.
  7. Drive through your heels, straighten your legs, and pull the cable up as you stand back up.
  8. Keep your arms straight and your back engaged throughout the movement.
  9. Repeat for the desired number of repetitions.
