What is the Rickshaw (Trap bar) Deadlift?

The Rickshaw (Trap bar) Deadlift is a compound exercise that effectively targets various muscle groups, including the legs, back, and upper body. Due to its unique design, it provides better weight distribution, thereby reducing pressure on the back, making it an excellent alternative for those looking to minimize injury risks.

How to properly perform the Rickshaw (Trap bar) Deadlift

  1. Position a loaded barbell on a pair of elevated handles or supports (rickshaw handles).
  2. Stand with your feet hip-width apart, toes pointing forward, and your shins touching the barbell.
  3. Keeping your back straight, hinge at the hips and bend your knees to grip the barbell with an overhand grip.
  4. Drive through your heels and extend your hips and knees to stand up, lifting the barbell off the supports.
  5. Keep the barbell close to your body as you stand up straight.
  6. Lower the barbell back to the supports in a controlled manner.
  7. Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions.
