What is the Seated Calf Raises Toes Out?
The seated calf raise machine is an effective isolation exercise to target and strengthen the calf muscles, particularly the gastrocnemius and soleus. By turning the toes slightly outward, you can place additional emphasis on the outer portions of the calves.
How to properly perform the Seated Calf Raises Toes Out
- Sit on a calf raise machine or on a bench with a dumbbell placed on top of your thighs, just above your knees.
- Place the balls of your feet on the foot platform, with your toes turned slightly outward.
- Press through the balls of your feet, raising your heels as high as possible.
- Pause at the top of the movement, then slowly lower your heels back down, feeling a stretch in your calf muscles.
- Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions.
