What is the Barbell Front Squats?

The barbell front squats, also known as front squats, are a compound exercise that primarily targets the quadriceps, while also engaging the glutes and lower back. This move is great for improving strength, stability, and mobility. It is beneficial for athletes of all levels and helps build a solid foundation for other complex movements like the clean and jerk.

How to properly perform the Barbell Front Squats

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and position a barbell across the front of your shoulders, resting on your fingertips.
  2. Engage your core, keep your chest up, and lower your hips down into a squat position, keeping your knees in line with your toes.
  3. Go as low as you comfortably can while maintaining proper form, then push through your heels to return to the starting position.
  4. Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions.
