What is the Reverse Cable Woodchop?
The reverse cable woodchop is a rotational exercise that primarily targets the obliques and core muscles. Ideal for those looking to improve their stability and rotational force, this exercise is often included in conditioning programs for sports requiring strong rotational movements. Additionally, it can help balance strength on both sides of the body.
How to properly perform the Reverse Cable Woodchop
- Stand perpendicular to the cable machine with your feet shoulder-width apart and knees slightly bent.
- Grasp the cable handle with both hands and extend your arms straight out in front of you.
- Keeping your core engaged, pull the cable handle down and across your body towards your opposite hip, rotating your torso as you do so.
- Pause for a moment and then return to the starting position with control.
- Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions and then switch sides.
